Cymerodd Thomas Fricker ran yn ein Cystadleuaeth Roboteg n\u00f4l yn 2016 ac \u2013 ynghyd \u00e2\u2019i gyd-aelodau t\u00eem o Ysgol Gyfun Archbishop McGrath a\u2019r athrawes Fiona Greenwood \u2013 enillodd yn ein rownd derfynol. Eleni, cefnogodd ei chwaer iau a th\u00eem Archbishop McGrath 2023 yn eu hymgais i adennill teitl y Pencampwyr! Dyma ei stori\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mae Thomas wedi cael diddordeb brwd mewn cyfrifiadureg erioed, ond agorwyd ei lygaid pan gafodd ei ddysgu i raglennu yn Scratch am y tro cyntaf ym Mlwyddyn 6. Roedd dysgu y gallai greu beth bynnag y gallai feddwl amdano gan ddefnyddio offer y gallai ei ddeall yn hynod ddiddorol iddo. Roedd yn siomedig bod llai o Scratch yn rhan o'i wersi ysgol uwchradd, tan iddo ymuno \u00e2'r clwb cod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gan fod ganddo ddiddordeb mewn darganfod sut mae pethau'n gweithio, ymunodd \u00e2 chlwb codio'r ysgol a oedd yn rhan o Technocamps, lle bu'n mwynhau dylunio, peiriannu ac adeiladu robot gan ddefnyddio'r pecyn LEGO MINDSTORMS a ddarparwyd. Mae'n cofio helpu'n bennaf gyda'r theori y tu \u00f4l i'r cod ar gyfer y robot a'i raglennu. Yna adeiladodd aelod arall o'r t\u00eem, Sam, y robot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oherwydd cyfyngiadau ar niferoedd, ni fynychodd Thomas ddigwyddiad y rownd derfynol yn bersonol, ond mae'n cofio rhaglennu'r robot a phrofi'r cod dro ar \u00f4l tro gyda gwelliannau bach bob tro, nes i'r t\u00eem ei gael i weithio o'r diwedd. Gweithiodd system profi a methu syml swyn!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Y rhan fwyaf heriol i Thomas oedd yr hen iaith i'r LEGO MINDSTORMS. Roedd yn ddiflas ac nid oedd yn reddfol iawn o'i gymharu \u00e2 Scratch (roeddent yn fwy cyfarwydd ag ef!). Mae'r citiau modern yn defnyddio iaith sydd bron yn union yr un fath \u00e2 Scratch, sydd bellach yn gwneud pethau'n llawer haws! Roedd dirprwyo pwy o fewn y t\u00eem oedd yn gwneud beth a sicrhau bod pawb yn gwneud eu rolau mewn ffordd a fyddai'n rhoi popeth at ei gilydd yn gywir ar y diwedd hefyd yn her, yn enwedig gyda'r cod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mwynhaodd Thomas y cyfle i weithio ar rywbeth roedd yn falch ohono. Dyma\u2019r tro cyntaf iddo fod yn rhan o brosiect codio ac roedd yn falch o\u2019r robot greodd y t\u00eem. Roedd mynd ymlaen i ennill y gystadleuaeth yn well byth, gan brofi bod eu holl waith caled yn werth chweil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fel dirprwy bennaeth ym Mlwyddyn 13, casglodd Thomas gr\u0175p o fyfyrwyr cyfrifiadureg o Flwyddyn 12 a 13 at ei gilydd i\u2019w helpu i addysgu disgyblion yn ei hen ysgol gynradd, yn debyg iawn i\u2019w brofiad ef. Roedd am roi'r cyfle iddynt a gafodd ei hun, ac roedd ei chwaer yn rhan o'r dosbarth roeddent yn ei ddysgu. Bob prynhawn Mercher, roedd Thomas yn arwain y gr\u0175p, gan eu haddysgu gyda chymorth dau ffrind, Sam a Will (a oedd yn rhan o d\u00eem buddugol gwreiddiol Archbishop McGrath hefyd!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yng Nghystadleuaeth Roboteg<\/a> eleni, cymerodd chwaer Thomas Sofia Fricker (disgybl Blwyddyn 7 yn Archbishop McGrath) a thri o'i chyd-ddisgyblion ran yn ein Cystadleuaeth Roboteg, gyda chymorth Pennaeth TG a Chyfrifiadureg yr ysgol, Fiona Greenwood. Daeth Thomas draw i gefnogi'r t\u00eem a mwynhaodd weld Sofia yn rhagori. Enillodd y t\u00eem Her Fyw De Cymru, gan ddefnyddio'r un cit a ddefnyddiodd t\u00eem fuddugol yr ysgol saith mlynedd yn \u00f4l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ymlaen at heddiw, ac mae Thomas wedi pasio ei flwyddyn gyntaf mewn Cyfrifiadureg ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe. Bydd nawr yn trosglwyddo i astudio Deallusrwydd Artiffisial yn dilyn arwyddoc\u00e2d cyfredol AI. Ar \u00f4l graddio, hoffai fod yn hunangyflogedig drwy greu apiau, rhaglenni a chynhyrchion. Mae eisoes yn defnyddio\u2019r sgiliau a ddysgodd gan Technocamps wrth weithio ar brosiectau gyda chyfoedion \u2013 gan gynnwys sut i ddal ei hun, pryd i gyfrannu a phryd i wrando.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roedd yn wych gweld disgyblion presennol o flwyddyn 7 yn ennill cystadlaethau Technocamps yn defnyddio'r cit a enillodd fy nh\u00eem yn \u00f4l pan oedden nhw ym Mlwyddyn 7! Roedd yn swreal mynd o\u2019i haddysgu i raglennu, i\u2019w gweld yn ennill cystadlaethau i\u2019w hysgol gyda\u2019r holl waith caled a wnaeth hi a\u2019i chyd-ddisgyblion, mae\u2019n deimlad gwych sy\u2019n fy ngwneud i mor falch o\u2019r hyn mae wedi\u2019i gyflawni. Rwy'n gobeithio dod yn rhan o Technocamps er mwyn gallu helpu mwy o bobl i gael y cyfleoedd hyn<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cymerodd ein t\u00eem Clwb Cod cyntaf un ran yng nghystadleuaeth roboteg Technocamps yn \u00f4l yn 2016.\u00a0 Fe wnaethant ddylunio ac adeiladu robot i gynorthwyo mewn amgylchedd addysg a dyfarnwyd y wobr gyntaf iddynt. Roedd hwn yn brofiad gwirioneddol ysbrydoledig iddynt, gyda llawer o\u2019r t\u00eem yn mynd ymlaen i astudio Cyfrifiadureg ar lefel TGAU a Lefel A a rhai yn dewis astudio\u2019r pwnc yn y brifysgol. Mae cystadlaethau Game of Codes a Roboteg blynyddol Technocamps yn darparu heriau i\u2019n myfyrwyr iau i archwilio a datblygu eu sgiliau rhaglennu, yn ogystal \u00e2 rhoi cyfleoedd i\u2019n myfyrwyr Cyfrifiadureg Lefel A eu harwain a mentora.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
