Our 2025 Welsh National Robotics Competition was a huge success this summer! This year, we held two final events at the University of South Wales in Newport and the Taliesin Arts Centre at Swansea University. A total of 130 pupils from 22 schools across Wales gathered to showcase their technical skills, creativity, and teamwork under the theme Into the Wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the events, teams built conservation-inspired robots using kits such as LEGO Mindstorm, LEGO Spike, and Arduino. Learners worked in school to design their robots, code their functions, and prepare posters and a presentation video for the judges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, we collaborated with research projects at Swansea University<\/a> and the South East Asia Rainforest Protection Partnership<\/a> (SEARPP) in Borneo to highlight global conservation efforts. Learners watched a series of inspiring videos<\/a> that explored the challenges faced by conservationists. These stories inspired a range of robot designs, including animal rescue and sensor-based animal and terrain detection robots.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the competition, teams presented their creations and faced a surprise live challenge that tested their adaptability and problem-solving skills. It was inspiring to see how teams responded with creative ideas for tackling the live challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Luke Clement, Operations Manager at Technocamps, said, \u201cThe enthusiasm and innovation on display has been incredible. This competition is about much more than robots. It is about developing the next generation of thinkers, problem-solvers, and changemakers.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now in its twelfth year, our Welsh National Robotics Competition continues to inspire young people across Wales and promote STEM learning through engaging, real-world challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
