And it is\u00a0<strong>completely free<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event will feature talks from<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Our Assistant Director, <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.swansea.ac.uk\/staff\/science\/compsci\/powell-s-w\/\" target=\"_blank\">Stewart Powell<\/a><\/li><li>Micro:bit wizard\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/whaleygeek\" target=\"_blank\">David Whale<\/a><\/li><li><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/drmelissabutt\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Melissa Butt<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/emwhaites\" target=\"_blank\">Emily Whaites<\/a>\u00a0from\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Discovery_STEM_\" target=\"_blank\">Discovery STEM<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The event is open to academics, educators, Industrial and Ed tech representatives, third sector employees and any member of the public interested in the future of work, education and society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons aligncenter is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.co.uk\/e\/robotics-microbit-and-the-state-of-the-art-of-technology-in-education-tickets-139653325857\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Register here<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stewart Powell\u00a0<\/strong>is our Assistant Director. As well as exploring Technocamps\u2019 use of robots to inspire school children in STEM, Stewart will also discuss the role of competitions such as the FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Micro:bit wizard\u00a0<strong>David Whale<\/strong>\u00a0is a renowned embedded software engineer, book author and STEM ambassador. He will discuss some recent projects he has designed for the micro:bit, including how the built-in radio feature can be used to model Internet of Things devices and control robots wirelessly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Emily Whaites<\/strong>\u00a0(Discovery STEM Education curriculum coordinator) will explore the MiRo teacher training course that she has developed and delivered to 3 cohorts of Yorkshire school teachers.\u00a0<strong>Dr Melissa Butt\u00a0<\/strong>(Founder of Discovery STEM Education) will outline the impact of international educational robotics and invention programmes on teachers, students and industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SERAS, the UK&#8217;s nationwide network for Skills and Education for Robotics and Autonomous\u00a0Systems, is holding a mini-conference on 25th February 2021.
