We are excited to invite female pupils in Years 8 and 9 to attend a full day of workshops at Bridgend College\u2019s brand new STEAM Academy!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The free in-person event is in partnership with Bridgend College<\/a> STEAM Academy and the National Digital Exploitation Cen<\/a>t<\/a>re<\/a>. We will introduce participants to a variety of Forensic Investigation skills including Digital Forensics, Steganography, Fingerprinting and more. Each workshop will be hands-on and delivered by lecturers and experts in their field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pupils selected to attend can be those who need their aspirations raised towards taking a STEM subject at GCSE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Date<\/strong>: Monday 29th November 2021
Location<\/strong>: Bridgend College STEAM Academy, Cyncoed Campus, Cowbridge Rd, Bridgend CF31 3DF<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is part of the Technocamps GiST<\/a> (Girls into Science and Technology) programme. Attendees will also be invited to future Technocamps events throughout the year. Places allocated on a first come, first served basis. If pupils are unable to attend, please fill their places with a reserve to avoid others not being able to attend. Pupils must be registered by a class teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop 1: NDEC <\/strong>
Digital forensics involves lots of puzzle solving and unlocking the hidden secrets of technology! Find out how digital forensics experts investigate a crime scene when technology is involved \u2013 from ensuring evidence isn\u2019t contaminated and chain of custody is recorded, to looking through items found on the scene for incriminating data! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop 2: Criminal and Forensic Investigation with Bridgend College<\/strong>
Whodunnit?! Do you have an eye for detail? Can you spot the clues? Become a scene of crime investigator and collect the evidence to solve the crime. Experience the correct protocol for crime scene investigation, including: crime scene photography, swabbing of evidence and dusting for fingerprints. Finish off your CSI experience with a fingerprint masterclass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Workshop 3: Steganography with Technocamps<\/strong>
Can you find data hidden in data? Words hidden in pictures? Passwords hidden in a spreadsheet? Put your Steganography skills to the test, search for clues and solve a crime! In this workshop you will be put into a digital crime scene investigation, having received information from Detective Smith, you will be the ones tasked with uncovering the criminals\u2019 plan…<\/p>\n\n\n\n
