Technocamps was pleased to welcome the Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles AS<\/strong><\/a> to its Headquarters at Swansea University to find out more about the project and the work being done in Wales together with its partner, The Institute of Coding<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Accompanied by the Director of Technocamps Professor Faron Moller, Swansea University Vice Chancellor Professor Paul Boyle and Swansea University Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education Professor Martin Stringer, the Minister was given a tour of the CoSMOS Outreach Space and met with key members of the team and other academics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister was able to see first-hand the work that the project undertakes, delivering STEM workshops to young people across Wales. Pupils from Years 5 and 6 from Ysgol Gymraeg Castell-nedd <\/strong><\/a>were on campus to enjoy our Butterfly Hunter workshop – in collaboration with Theatr na n\u00d3g<\/strong><\/a>. The workshop embraces the ethos of the new Curriculum for Wales, covering machine learning, statistics, programming and DNA using the story of Welsh naturalist Alfred Russell Wallace as a stimulus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Professor Faron Moller said, “This was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the work we do to upskill young people in Wales in a fun and engaging way. We have delivered over 30,000 workshops to more than 65,000 pupils to date and it was an honour to show the minister our plans to reach even more people across the country.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
