Celebrating Welsh Language and Innovation at Eisteddfod yr Urdd

We were thrilled to return to the Maes for this year’s Eisteddfod yr Urdd, hosted right on our doorstep in the beautiful Margam Park. The week-long festival brought together thousands of young people, families, and schools from across Wales to celebrate creativity, culture, and community.

Despite the rain, thousands of visitors flocked to the GwyddonLe Science Tent, where we were based alongside other amazing exhibits from Swansea University and beyond. Our offering was packed with interactive challenges and informative stage shows themed around the history of technology within the coal mining industry, a showcase of our recent collaboration with the National Museum of Wales and Big Pit.  Our activities were designed to spark curiosity and showcase the fun side of technology. Visitors tested their steady hands on a micro:bit-powered wire buzzer game, cracked code-breaking lockboxes, and even chatted with Gethin, our AI-powered Ohbot, who quickly became a fan favourite and even made a special appearance on S4C! Another highlight was our popular Rubik’s Cube-solving robot which drew long queues and plenty of challenges, especially when a few children managed to beat it in a cube-off.

Thanks to those who popped by to say hello, we had a fantastic week!
