Working with Menter Iaith to support Welsh Language STEM Education

Technocamps’ partnership with Menter Iaith has continued to go from strength to strength, ensuring we can continue to promote Welsh language STEM activities in Wales.

Since 2021, we have been working with local Menter Iaith projects, including Menter Iaith Abertawe, Menter Iaith RCT and Menter Iaith Caerdydd to offer workshops and events to Welsh speaking pupils across the country. This has given us the ability to increase the opportunities available to pupils and teachers to learn about Computer Science and other STEM subjects in the language they are most comfortable using, and the language that they are likely to complete assessments using. It will also help us reach a wider audience to encourage the use of the Welsh language both in and outside of schools.

Mentrau Iaith Cymru (MIC) is a national organisation that supports a network of 22 local Welsh language initiatives, Mentrau Iaith, across Wales. Mentrau Iaith develop national and regional projects with the aim of promoting and expanding the use of the Welsh language.

We worked closely with the Menter Iaith Abertawe team during our 2021 STEM Academy to promote inclusive STEM workshops for pupils in Swansea and with Menter Iaith RCT on our 2022 Parti Ponty activities. Menter Iaith Caerdydd also support our Coding Clubs in Cardiff for young people keen to improve their programming skills outside of school.
