Micro:bit – The Next Gen: Technocamps Empowers Practitioners Across Wales

Workshop participants using micro:bits led by a Technocamps instructor in a classroom.

Throughout February and March 2025, we proudly delivered a series of professional learning events across Wales to support the BBC and micro:bit Foundation’s micro:bit – the next gen campaign.

The hands-on training sessions were tailored for upper primary and lower secondary practitioners, providing them with the tools and confidence to bring cutting-edge computing into their classrooms.

It was great to be able to test the different codes during the hands-on session. The course leaders were more than happy to help and give advice throughout the day.

During the sessions, practitioners explored the brand-new machine learning tool developed for the micro:bit which allows learners to train models and program their micro:bits with real-world applications, closely aligned with areas of Learning and Experience in the Curriculum for Wales. They also explored the micro:bit’s data logging capabilities, discovering how to use it to support data handling in both the Curriculum and the Digital Competency Framework.

Good presenters with well thought out ideas and plenty of resources!

Our micro:bit events are hugely popular for practitioners and introduce them to new ideas and concepts to help them thrive in the classroom. We are excited to be running more professional learning events this October – sign up now!
